Quit? Be Quick About It.

If the Kapar MP S.Manikavasagam wants to quit PKR do so immediately. Why the delay and all the bad mouthing. Be a gentleman and just leave. What's stopping you. But I'm sure he's just pulling our legs. He has no intention of leaving. He just want to elevate himself to 'star' status and you guys are falling for it. It is a carefully planned, devious ploy orchestrated by himself or someone with a brilliant mind. There must be a catch somewhere!

It has been a few days now and from the papers it appears that the Pakatan Indian leaders are divided over their quit threats. So much accusations are being thrown at the PKR. How wide the rift is anybody's guess. If you have been following the papers the last few days you would know he had succeeded in his scheme.

Would you simply give up your hard fought seat over trival matters? I don't think so. Let us all wait and see how it ends. He has indeed handed in his resignation letter to the Selangor MB and to the PKR president.

2009 Year Of The Ox.

I would like to remind the new Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Ahmad Fuad Ismail that 2009 is Year of the ox and not Year of Enforcement. A day or two after his appointment I thought he is The One. What a letdown he is! Such arrogrance! He wants to let all KLites know whose the boss.Whose in charge. He a wolf in sheep's clothing. He out to make life very difficult for everybody. As the top man of KL you must go around and help and not put fear or uneasiness to the lower income bracket. Where is your conscience. How do we make a living when your enforcement officers breathe down our necks? We are the rakyat. Do you feel happy when one of your countryman finds it difficult to earn an honest living? I guess you don't really care. You are looking after the government. You're not looking after the people. But you must not forget you're paid by the rakyat.Do sit down and think about it.

Nip Them In The Bud.

That's right! Nip them in the bud. They are a nuisance to the public. These young and rowdy revellers doing their thing every Christmas and New Year eves. Gurney Drive is their favourite haunting ground and Jalan Bukit Bintang is not spared too. I sometime wonder if their parents have failed to teach them to behave decently and not be a nuisance to the public. These young revellers may think it's only pure and simple fun but when it comes to destroying public and private properties they are different matters altogether. They can have all the fun they want but they must remember the consequences when they go overboard. What about the irresponsible litterbugs who litter the streets indiscriminately? The road sweepers would have a tough time the following day.

The police must be firm and tough action is warranted to rid off this unbecoming rowdy behaviour. They are young and energertic. They tend to go against the norm. A spanking is not enough. They must be charged in a juvenile court. Let them do time inside. Maybe, in time they will learn.

Do The Bidding.

The dust has not settle, has it? The MCA hierarchy is to be blame for giving the green light to Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek to contest for the deputy presidency in the first place. Dr Chua shouldn't be there at all. He should know better. The MCA had blundered and now want to get rid of him. It is such a stupid thing to do. The damage has been done. Dr Chua contested and won. It won't be easy to get rid of him unless he wants to himself. If Dr Chua is adamant about this he just won't leave.

Dr Chua should look at this positively. Since the majority do not want him he must relinquished the post gracefully. To be stubborn does not get you anywhere. You will not get the co-operation needed to move forward. You will die a natural death. You will be the next Lone Ranger. Exit now before it's too late. The wound has heal but the scar remains.

It's Just Plain Greed.

I could laugh my head off when I read in the papers that Tan Sri Musa Hasan refuted claims that low wages were among the factors contributing to corruption in the government sectors, including the police ranks. Corruption in the police force is still very much 'alive'. There is not much curtailment as far as I am concerned. Some ordinary 'mata-mata' would stoop so low as to instill fear and coerced the alleged wrong doer to give them the 'halal' bribe. Got money beres.

Have you ever been stopped by a drunkard policeman? Well it happened to me once in Malacca. I was stopped along an unlit stretch of a road somewhere near Simpang Empat ( the road that leads to the A Farmosa.) As a law-abiding citizen I stopped my car without knowing what offence I had committed. As no major offence could be found he was still quite adamant to find fault with me. Finally he summoned me for one of the fused bulbs on the back number plate because I refused to give in to his threat. I paid the summon but not without first reporting to his officer in Alor Gajah. I believe no action was taken.

Even some of the higher ranks in the force are just as guilty. Surely we must have read of them doing their bits to enrich themselves . Living beyond their means. The lower ranks take home 'smaller paychecks', the higher ranks, 'bigger paychecks'. Corruption is an insidious disease. Sadly nothing much can be done. We just have to live with that. So long as corruption exist in the police force our trust in them would be corroded to a certain extent. There would be less fraternal feelings for them.

All For Hudud

All for hudud please raise your hands. That's right. PAS is dead serious about this. And they have not even form the government! Their push for the implementation of the hudud and qisas laws is extremely tactless. We are living in a multi racial society and we are proud of that! We are unique. I have no qualms mixing around with all the races in this lovely country of mine.

A hundred lashes for illicit sex, amputation of limbs for theft. These are not laughing matters. But I believe in giving second chances. We are not perfect. Who is? We have lived together for so many years. We shared so many good things together. Why changed now. All for one Malaysia please raise your hands.

Temptation Is There.

You can bet your life on it. The temptation is there. Too great to resist. Never judge a book by its cover. Looting is a disease. It will never go away. We've always hear of search and rescue team personnel ransacking at the disaster area. Isn't the temptation too great when the whole disaster area is cordoned off? It's easy pickings so to say. Don't they have any clear conscience at all? Strict guidelines are to be followed. Whether they are the Fire and Rescue Services Department, the Smart team, the police or even the army, the guidelines are thrown out of the window.

Where are their code of ethics? Have they or have they no code of ethics at all? It's left to be seen. Throughout, their behaviour have not been strictly ethical. Their professional ethics are thrown into the drain when temptation rules the heart. To call a spade a spade, I will say this disease of looting would not simply go away. Nothing much can be done. You might get away once but you might not be lucky the next time. So to the search and rescue personnel I have this to say,"you're being watched".

Listen To Mahathir.

That's right. Listen to Mahathir. There is no need to have an in-depth study of the proposal by Sime Darby for its bid to acquire a stake in IJN. The Cabinet must know that IJN is for the rakyat only. It is not a commodity like sugar or tea. The Cabinet must tell Sime Darby to take its money elsewhere to invest. Better still, tell them to invest in another IJN. They can name it IJN2. This is a win win situation. Everybody stands to gain. The rakyat would be happy. The investors would be happy too. So I hope the Cabinet must not be two-faced about this.

The Government has made a series of costly blunders. The rakyat have sufferred. The rakyat are an unhappy lot. So the Goverment must be wise now. You are not newly-weds. You have the experience, the expertise. Now you have to do what is right for the rakyat. Make the rakyat happy. When the rakyat are happy you stand to gain in the long run.

Look at Mahathir. He may be out of the Cabinet but surely he is 'in' with the rakyat. I may not agree with him on some of the things he had done when he was the prime minister. But nobody can deny he had brought a lot of changes to the country. Cabinet, swallow whatever pride that's left and seek his advice. That's nothing to be ashamed off. We are, after all, human. Do not be pretentious. Remember this. Pride goes before a fall.

IJN- Not For The Faint-Hearted.

Are they serious? The Government wants to sell a stake to the highest bidder presumably to Sime Darby Bhd. It's preposterous isn't it? It doesn't make sense really. The Government is just taking the easy way out. Look at the other privatizations. Have we really benefit from them? All privatised companies want to make money. There is no such thing as social obligations. If they do not make money they will have to answer to the investors. Every Tom, Dick or Harry knows that. Got money beres. Got no money you habis!

Before any take over their proposal sounds too good to be true. The proposal would be carefully worded so as to give everybody the impression that after the privatization everyone would benefit. I don't think so. Look at PLUS, Syabas,Telekoms and many others. Are we really happy with them? The services rendered leaves much to be desired. The Government should have listened, must listen and must continue to listen to us, the rakyat. Do not take us for a ride.

A word of cosolation. Heard on the news that the purportedly take over bid by Sime Darby Bhd. has been put on hold indefinitely by our Deputy Prime Minister. Can our DPM muster enough wisdom and courage to scrape the whole illogical idea put forth by Sime Darby Bhd. Let us wait and see.

Justice Can It Be For Real This Time.

I pray and hope that justice is for real this time. As all of us know that nobody is above the law. But there are some who simply refuse to believe that. Pause and ponder and you will see what I mean. People like you and me, the ordinary folks would be bullied into submission whenever we stand at the wrong side of the law. People in the top echelon of society, the so-called 'untouchables' are really untouchables! People who can get away with almost anything, with almost anyone. Sometimes I wish I can be like these people. Be filthy rich, be influential and we are way above the law. But are these right? Will our conscience be clear? Can we sleep peacefully? One day we will be judged.

I believe we are all created equal, we are all human beings. But many out there do not think so. Some think they are more equal than others. This is unhealthy thinking. It is this unhealthy thinking that keep us apart. Sadly this is human nature. It has been in existence for so long.

Still Not Good Enough.

Initially I was all for change. The Anti-Corruption Commission Bill and the Judicial Appointments Commission Bill. The ACC would act as an advisory board with a number of MPs as committee members. I'm not against MPs but to have MPs as committee members I doubt the ACC would function as independently as it want to be. We all know how some of our MPs behave inside and outside of Parliament. To be honest some are not fit to be MPs. I'm still not to sure about this ACC Bill. Are you?

On the judiciary, I may not be able to give my opinion. A judge is a judge. Whoever sits on the bench has the absolute power to mete sentences or make judgement. I hope our judges would be fair in every sense of the word. To judge without fear or favour. Only then can you sleep soundly in the night.

Aliens Are Everywhere.

I'm not the least surprise to see aliens everywhere. We are totally surrounded by so many of them. The Indonesians, the Bangladeshis, the Filipinos, the Thais, the mainland Chinese and the list goes on. Many of us are not very happy to be surrounded by these foreigners. I'm sure many of us have difficulty knowing who the legitimate ones are. And what are our authorities doing? What kind of action are they taking? Their lackadaisical approach to these problems do not go down well with all Malaysians. Actions taken at one time or another is simply an eyewash. Really these problems will not go away. Lots of lame excuses would be given. Not in our jurisdiction, not enough manpower. Not this not that. But Got Money Beres.

It's ridiculous and absurd to not feel safe living in our own country. I'm sure many of us have read or heard of our people getting robbed, mugged, raped and even murdered! How to deal with these problems is anybody's guess. I'm afraid we just have to live with that. We have to help ourselves instead of relying on the authorities. We need to be extra careful, extra cautious and be alert at all times. Do not let our guard down. If we take all these precautions we will not feel jittery living amongst the foreigners. We are ordinary folks living ordinary lives. Nobody is going to look after us but ourselves.

Blanket Ban Is Not Unfair

Is it so hard to understand what the Government is trying to do? All it wants to do is to prevent future tragedies from happening. But the developers are trying to convince the goverment that there is nothing to worry if they (the developers) strictly adhere to the guidelines for hill developments. I'm quite amused when they want to compare their hillslope development with that of Genting Highlands. Genting Highlands is a gaming resort well known globally. They cannot afford to make a mistake. I'm sure they invested a lot just to make the mountain stable. Can you imagine how many people, how many cars go up there practically twenty four hours a day, three hundred sixty five days a year? Imagine how much weight the mountain supports. And let us not forget the thousands of houses, the condos, the high rise hotels. Their water and sewerage system are also taken into account.

So hillslope developers please do not compare youself with GH. You derive your profits from only a certain class of people whereas GH makes profit from all over the world, from all walks of life. So wake up developers. I pray the goverment will wake up too. Be firm in your decision. No two ways about it or you might hear people say,"Got money beres."

Are They Genuinely Concerned?

Thank you housing developers for agreeing to conduct soil tests just to pacify the anger of almost everyone. But are we so sure that the developers are so concern and caring? That we must wait and see. What will they be doing behind our backs? It's anybody's guess. I will not be really surprise if trees are fell and another developement takes place after the dust has settled. Wanna bet. Got money beres.

We've seen and heard so many times whenever tragedies of these type happened developers are quick to come up with solutions. "We follow guidelines," so they say. "Don't blame us, blame mother nature." They are not the only ones to be blame because it takes two to tango.

So you guys out there if you want to invest in landed properties make sure the properties are really landed but not anywhere near hillsides or anywhere at the sides of hills. Do not be taken in by their beautiful brochures. If you want greenery plant youself some flowers and grow a tree or two. Natural coolness. Forget that. We are living in a hot country. Get an air conditioner or two. If all of us can do that I'm sure in the long run all hills will be like hills once again.

Landslides once too often

It happened. Stopped all hillside projects. It happens. Stop all hillside projects. It will happen. Stop all hillsides projects. How many times have we heard of these? My sincere condolences to all those affected by the recent tragedy at Bukit Antarabangsa. What next? But first thing first. Who is to be blame? The hill shifted so has the government's responsibility. They do no wrong so they say. Got money beres. They are quick to blame mother nature. Poor mother nature she cannot fight back.

We cannot blame the goverment entirely. Individual land owners and the major culprit, the developers must share the blame too! They think of profits, profits and more profits! What's wrong with giving a paltry amount to you know who and be given the approval to develope a hillside. Got money beres.

Now we shift our attention to our elected representatives, our beloved MPs. They looked concerned. Are they really? Sometimes I really wonder. Of course there are some who are really concern. To these few I say thank you and to the others I wish them good luck in the next election! Can we shift our attention again? This time to my place where I'm staying. A few years back when a developer wanted to develope the hill, albeit a small one, the authority concerned placed a notice board telling us to give our opinions. We duly obliged. We objected. We pleaded. We lost. So now the hill is being develope. Trees were chopped. Soil erosions aplenty. As usual we can only pray and hope nothing untoward happens. Got money beres.

Rear-seat dilemma and tinted glass

First I would like to thank Road Safety Department director-general Datuk Suret Singh for his indecisiveness. One day he warned motorists they could be fined for overloading and the next day motorists were told it would be okay not to buckle up the fourth passenger. What about the fifth? or sixth? So what say you, the police. I do not think it's easier said than done. We'll have to wait and see.
And what about the tinted glass ruling. So much has been said but so little has been done. If you guys out there drive a RM40,000 car please be warned. Don't ever be stopped by the Road Safety Department or worse the police. Not an eye would be battered just to find fault with your car. But if you drive a RM200,000 or more car with a fancy number not an eye would be battered . Their eyes are closed! I'm sure many of us have one time or another come across this type of situation. So it is good to have money. Got money beres.
