In the near future, we would be greeted in Chinese at the MACC offices throughout the country! More than 400 applied for the 40 vacancies as investigating officers and junior investigating officers.
That was indeed a break-through! A break with tradition! It was good that the MACC had broken away from the traditionalist attitudes that so many of the government institutions still hold on to! Let's hope that was done in the best interest of the nation. It would also be interesting to see how it goes from there.
Besides getting the Chinese "involved" in this institution, they should also involve the Chinese more in decision-making! The Chinese must also be "personally involved". It would be a "useless existence" for the Chinese if they were to remain as pawns or what we Malaysians love to say- "ikan bilis", "small fry", whatever!
I deplore the fact that there are so few Chinese in top jobs! Truly, many Chinese were denied the opportunity but let's now give those deserving ones the "lost" opportunity. Let's end the "policy of desegregation" among the races! And just how do we relate to "mixed marriages" when this policy still exists?
We can if we have the courage and dogged determination to look beyond "colour of the skin". Discard outdated beliefs that only Chinese are business people and the rest of our fellow brethrens are "kakitangan kerajaan"! This widespread racial discrimination has to stop immediately in order for us to move forward! Many of us are becoming increasingly disenchanted today. The feeling of disenchantment with the present government is sadly true!
The deep, growing disillusionment with the government's policies must be addressed without delay. The government must be scrupulously fair to all as promised and it still got a fair bit to do! All we want is to see fair play! So, please no foul-ups with foul plays.
We need to collaborate fruitfully with all in order to make a success of this country! We have to make substantive changes and everyone has a part to play. Let's not waste our breath talking nonsense and doing nothing like some halfwits who have been doing all these at every other day!
