Made it good in KL.

It was on the first of May, 1980 when I first came to Kuala Lumpur in search of a job. I felt a certain apprehension about my interview the next day because I did not have a degree, not even a diploma! All I had was a Malaysian Certificate of Education (MCE). I was never an ‘A’ student. As luck would have it, I landed the job with a starting salary of RM510.00 per month.

During those days, that salary was reasonable and I could “pull through’ every month. Basic necessities were not so expensive and I managed to save some money at the end of every month. I was determined to make good in this city. I wanted more because I was going to start a family. So, I moonlighted! I sold newspapers and tit-bits. It was tough but I survived. Juggling between two jobs wasn’t easy. I had to sell the papers in the wee hours of the morning (at Petaling Street) and by 9.00am, I had to be in the office (at Jalan P.Ramlee).

To cut a long story short, I was retrenched in 1987 because the company went bust! But I was compensated. With the compensation and my little savings, I opened a small eatery in the city. My eatery still stands today, twenty-two years on. I considered myself luckier than most people and I thanked God for that!

Lady Boss and her helpers

A culmination of honesty, hard work and determination eventually paid off! I’m certainly not a millionaire but I am able to live in average comfort. Kuala Lumpur had been kind to me. Kuala Lumpur is a veritable goldmine for anyone interested in making an honest living. Opportunities are everywhere. It’s a matter of whether one knows how to look for them!

And, oh boy, how this city has changed! I would never have imagined in a span of only three decades, Kuala Lumpur had undergone an amazing metamorphosis from an ordinary city to what she is now; ultra modern, dynamic and vibrant. This city never ceased to amaze. You’d be amazed with her that’s for sure! A safe, fascinating and wonderful city! This is one of the “must visit’ cities of the world.

The oldest shopping mall (above) and the newest shopping mall (below)

It is the multi-racial composition that makes this city unique. The social integration of the three main races, namely, the Malays, the Chinese and the Indians is something every city dweller can be proud of. Take a leisure stroll in the city anytime, any day and you’d know exactly what I’m saying. From the locals to the foreign tourists, everyone agrees that Kuala Lumpur “is the place to be”. It is the “happening” city.

Kuala Lumpur never “stands still”! How true! How true! It’s business as usual. The morning rush to work and the usual “chaotic” scene on the roads are the daily norm! This is what makes this city exciting. Everyone is rushing, rushing! Welcome to Kuala Lumpur!

A typical morning rush

Another plus factor in this city is something that comes from the heart. There are many city folks who would go the extra mile to offer assistance unconditionally to the less fortunate. That’s the true spirit of 1MALAYSIA. And corporate companies too provide cash donations. We care for our fellow Malaysians just as we care for the foreigners who “dropped-by”. We, as always, play the hospitable host to these foreigners as they are our guests.

Tourists, from near and afar, are “pampered to the hilt!” We want them to have a pleasant stay in this city. There are many things to do and see here. They just have to discover for themselves. Take their time to enjoy. After all, I’m sure they have all the time in the world!

What would this city be like if it is every man for himself? So unity and peace is everything to us. Without these, we simply cannot progress further. And we are very lucky. We have both. We are people of diverse cultures living in harmony and are able to blend perfectly well! Our diversity is the envy of many nations throughout the world. We have to show the world our commitment, our determination and our desire to live harmoniously, to co-exists together peacefully in this country we so proudly called 1MALAYSIA. We placed great emphasis on the importance of unity among the races! And thanked God, we have succeeded! We cannot stop for a moment and falter! If we can do that, it would auger victory for us.

And we would be asking for trouble if we take unity for granted! It is not something that we can buy off the rack. Without unity, we cannot move forward, we cannot prosper! Many countries in the world failed miserably because there’s disunity among their people. We cannot let this happen to us at all cost! The stakes are high! We cannot gamble on it!

All Malaysians have to come together! We cannot let internal bickering get into our way. Do not be too quick to condemn or get embroiled in petty quarrels among ourselves! There must be a natural love and empathy between us. And everyone knows; an understanding approach would go a long way in fostering unity among the races! There’s no doubt about that!

Unity in unision

We can do it. Let’s prove to the world we’re committed and determined. There are many ways to foster a closer rapport with all the races. One such is through the stomach. Come, let’s go for teh tarik. It’s only 3.00 in the morning! 1MALAYSIA Boleh!

KL: Good Side, Bad Side, Ugly Side

We can have the best city in the world! We can have up-to-the-minute shopping malls in the world! We can have one of the longest, one of the tallest….but honestly, do we deserved these accolades? We want our city to be a “six- star” city but with the negative publicity we hear so often, now, exactly where do we stand? Remember, we have to earn those stars! We need all city dwellers to cooperate. We need to work for a common purpose. With the right attitude and commitment, this would augur victory for us. Without these attributes, we can all sing “auld lang syne”. Do we know why we are “many stars” behind other Asian cities?

Of late, has anyone out there been taken for a ride by the cabbies who ply the streets in the city? I was one of them. Sometime ago, I flagged down a cab and I paid RM8.00 (according to the meter) when I reached my destination. After my appointment, I again flagged down a cab. That was one ride that I would not forget so easily. That cunning, old fox “robbed” me but not before he took me for a “sight-seeing tour”. What did I do? Nothing! It was best I shut up and “enjoy” the ride. Inside me, I was cursing and swearing till I reached my destination! That tour cost me RM20.00!

Running the meters or giving the receipts makes no difference! Some cabbies, with a blemished reputation for dishonesty, could still manipulate us! There’s no way we can win them. I’m not saying all cabbies are heartless, mean or dishonest. Thank God, there are still many saints around! For those who are out to fleece, the authorities must act fast! Many of us are painfully aware that very little had been done to put a curb on them! If the authorities cannot do anything positive, I would suggest they give these devious cabbies “the licence to cheat” all year round! Action must be taken immediately! We do not want to frighten the foreign tourists nor the locals! We do not want their effrontery behaviour to place us in a bad light! We want everyone to say nice things about this city and us when they go home! Can we do that?

It is always the few black sheep in this industry that give this city a bad name. We want a smooth flow of tourists from around the world. What would they think of our city and us if we disgraced ourselves by our deplorable act of dishonesty? Nowadays news travel very fast! Way too fast! Blame it on the internet…or blame it on ourselves?

It was a good move by the Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board to approve 900 new individual licences to the women. Three cheers for the ladies! The men would be in for a hard time, competing with these women. “He-cabbies” must behave at all times when they are driving “she-passengers” and likewise, “he-passengers” must behave when “she-cabbies” are at the wheels. I would not be surprise if some are “dropped” at the police station instead of their destination! This is one “detour” that runs foul of the law!

Let’s take a look at another protrusion of the ugly side of our city. There are still some unscrupulous traders who stoop so low as to cheat on their customers. I feel so ashamed and embarrassed. Their actions reek of greed. There are many and various ways to earn a living in this city. There’s no need to be innately dishonest and cheat to survive! Kuala Lumpur is a veritable goldmine for anyone interested in making an honest living! But does anyone care? There are many vultures that swoop down on “pipits and pigeons” like us. Locals and foreigners alike! We have to fend off these predatory birds at all cost!

Fancy sharks living out of the water in the city? Yes, we’re talking about the loan sharks, the infamous “Ah Longs”. Miraculously, they can survive without “dehydrating” in this city! Why? Let’s leave the guessing game to the authorities. We, the “ikan bilis” cannot do anything about them anyway! The only way to survive is to stay as far away from them as possible. But, sadly, many of the weak-willed, the desperate and the very poor cannot “live without them”. This is not a love story. There would not be any happy ending. And before you make an appointment with these “bankers”, remember their advertising slogan: ‘Today, you got no money, you chase Ah Longs, tomorrow, you got no money, Ah Longs chase you’.

Let’s leave the baddies for now and let’s brood on another type of beast. Have you ever wondered why many people have wafer-thin patience or even none at all? Classical examples are abounding in many nooks and corners in this great city. Motorists and motorcyclists top the list. They are like Dr. Jekyll, a mild mannered man who turned into Mr. Hyde, a crude homicidal maniac once they take to the wheels! Sadly, there are many amongst us. Their atypical and sometimes horrendous driving would drive us nuts!

I’m sure many of us had crossed paths with them at one time or another. Their atrocious and often unpleasant behaviour is always difficult to fathom. Their fatuous behaviour while driving or riding on the roads not only endangers themselves but also other road users. Sometimes we need to take evasive actions in order to avoid collisions with these “road warriors” when we are on the road! I think to be absolutely safe on the road; we need to drive German–made Panzer tanks! Are there any APs for them? OTK, we need your opinion regarding this.

Do you think I’m just pulling your legs if I say there are many impatient clowns who simply cannot wait in line these days? These clowns are notorious for jumping queue and even at the slightest honking; they would show you their menacing red and often “distorted” faces. Some would swear and curse from the safety of their cars. More often than not, their little foibles are usually tolerated by many of us! These “heroes from afar” are nothing but “road sissies” and they only make “eye contact”. But not road bullies! They are very different! They make “body contact”! Always have your running shoes with you, just in case! What if you cannot outrun these beasts? Dial 911. Ask for Steven Seagal. Break a hand here, break a leg there! That’s him!

Go ahead, curse and swear! This city is also well known for its haphazard parking! Some hard-headed drivers always want to “stamp their authority” whenever they want to park their vehicles. These impertinent drivers couldn’t be bothered about others. Their high-handed actions would only aggravate these problems even more! As long as the authorities do not look into these matters with conviction, these drivers would remain as “kings of the road”! And many law-abiding drivers would “see red”. Do the authorities need the “green light” to act on these law breakers? Or are they still in the “amber zone”, waiting? Good, while they are waiting, shall we dedicate a song to them?

If there’s something strange
In your neighbourhood,
Who ya gonna call?
GHOSTBUSTERS

Ghostbusters? There are no ghosts in the city! But there are some slimy and horrible “creatures” on the loose, always trying to lookout for their own species! They want to champion only theirs…and they have a propensity to exaggerate. They have an obstinate streak and are always pigheaded! I find their behaviour very obtrusive…and their profound antipathy towards others, a complete disgrace and completely deplorable! They must have forgotten that we are living in a multi-cultural society and we need and depend on one another to see everyone through. Come rain, come shine, we need to stick together. We must simply ignore their puerile and pugnacious behaviour. At times, I even find their ignorance horrifying! They’re just people with machiavellian motives! Let’s forget them, shall we?

Not so fast! Let’s do the only sane thing everyone would do with these creatures! Obviously, we need to obviate them. These creatures should be tranquilized and in the shroud of darkness, sent to the jungles of Borneo! National Geographic might be interested to film a documentary on them. See how they survive in the wild! See them in their “natural habitat”, coexisting with the orang-utans. But let’s give these creatures an option before we “banish” them! We’re not that cruel are we?

If these creatures want to understand race relations better, I strongly suggest they watch the movie ‘2012’. For the racists and the bigots, maybe they would learn a thing or two! This movie would “hit” them and the “impact” might just “knock” some senses into the thick and stubborn heads of theirs! Please do not degrade yourselves! Degrading is akin to humiliating! We must respect cultural differences! Is that so hard to do?

Here is one shining example. Kudos to the Home Minister for doing another great job! You delivered as promised and when the time comes, they will deliver! That’s a promise. Many “new citizens” are smiling and beaming with pride! They would be eternally grateful to you. This is what 1Malaysia is all about! Regardless of race! Regardless of religion!

I would be more than happy to be into this kind of relationship where I would have no qualms greeting you as ‘Ali’ and you, me, as ‘Baba’. I’m totally against the ‘Ali Baba’ relationship where nothing looks genuine. You used me, I used you! This would be really absurd! This is totally against my principle of race relationship.

We are indeed a lucky lot! We are very fortunate to be able to live peacefully and blend well with the other races. We simply cannot live apart from each other. We must clump and cluster as one! We cannot look down on any one race. We are all Malaysians. There must not be any cold-war attitudes among the races. If we cannot do that, how do we possibly survive the “onslaught of the enemies”? Ask ourselves this: “Can we be victorious without joining forces?” It takes more than a valiant effort to overcome the odds. We must be one! We must be united! And nobody should be left out in the cold! Not now! Not ever! And we must not be emotionally disturbed by some creatures out there that are hell- bent on winning at all cost!

But nothing is more disturbing than to see “alien colonies” mushrooming all over the city! They are practically everywhere. We’re not alone! They can be found in the market-place, in the construction sites and anywhere we can think of! Swift action must be taken to round up those without proper documents and as for the legal ones; they must have all the relevant documents ready every time the authorities inquired about their status. They must produced authentic documents to support their claims! They have to toe the line like anyone of us. They cannot make a nuisance of themselves while in this city. There is widespread public concern about the brazen behaviour of some. A line must be drawn somewhere- they must behave or leave!

Another extremely disturbing news we often hear is regarding the very confident and suave tricksters that are on the prowl in our city. They are the “black magic (wo)man” from the Dark Continent that got some of us frenzied and dancing “to their tune”! Their “dance steps” were so superbly executed that some intellectual eggheads got “conned” away! How could our folks be so gullible, so easily deceived by their dark and sinister motive? One word: “Greed”! Maybe our smart alecs are not so smart after all! Haven’t they heard of the “black money” scam? A most egregious error of judgement of people and an excruciatingly painful experience for those conned! Let them absorbed the painful lesson of their own follies! They would be wiser the next time around!
There is still a cause for concern by yet another very disturbing sight in this city! I’m talking about the unhygienic and dirty eateries many of us patronised. This is not an attempt by me to discredit these eateries. But wouldn’t you be filled with nausea at the sight of rats and sometimes dogs and cats “to keep you company”? The standalone eateries, do they have enough water to wash and clean their utensils and the cook wares? God knows how often they changed their “recycled” water. Every little saved is every little earned! They are not the only culprits. Even some ‘A’ rating eateries are giving us ‘C’ rating services. You may think everything look spick and span in the open. You would be surprised at what goes on “behind closed doors”. “TT anyone?”

Any more surprises? Yes, our city is also famous for her “open air” eateries and with tables and chairs “parked” along the shoulders of the open roads, every patron must keep their eyes and ears opened every time they dined. Fatal accidents had happened before but many people do not learn! Why are actions not taken against the operators of these eateries by the authorities? Could it be that the authorities were welcomed with open arms? Seriously, the authorities must take effectual action immediately. Do not deliberate on what action to take or not to take. Do not sacrifice another life or two before you decide to take action. It would then be too late! You might just end up “picking the pieces”.

Eat if you must, but please remember, your life is more valuable than your stomach! Eat to your heart’s content but do not let anyone “pick up your pieces”. The wisest thing to do is to pick a “safe” eatery. You’d not need to “look right”, “look left” and “look right” again to eat.

My heart sank everytime I see our youths destroying their young lives by indulging themselves in unhealthy activities. Some puffed, some boozed and some puffed and boozed! These are all very harmful activities and they all have a detrimental effect on the body. All of us would like to live to a ripe old age but some chose to shorten “the journey”. We cannot simply draw a veil over their appalling activities. We have to do something positive like restraining their urges but that is not going to be easy. It would take a lot of patience and understanding on our part to place them “on the right track”. Some are rebellious and more often than not, rise up in open rebellion! Our genuine concern, seen as an unwelcome intrusion, would be met with a cruel rebuff!

Sadly, there’s a huge decline of moral standards among the youths of today. Many youths have a moralistic attitude with narrow beliefs and judgements about what is right and wrong. Many of them are readily and easily influenced by the “yellow” culture of the West. Nothing escaped their sharp eyes! They want to enjoy complete freedom to do as they wished! They want a free rein.

Alas, have we become more “westernised”? Sadly our future generations would be at the losing end. Most, if not all, our multi cultures are fast disappearing! We see the gradual disintegration of traditional values our forefathers had so jealously kept. How do we curtail this “bad” western influence that is rapidly seeping into the lives of our people? Some might disagree with me and brush me off as an old goat that’s behind time. Believe me; I’m not against western culture or their customs. Whatever that is good we absorb. It is perfectly alright. But, can you imagine males with “accessories” all over their bodies? I wouldn’t want them for a son-in-law. Would you?

“Hey! Is there anyone who would like to follow me to the hair saloon? Me want to dye me grey hair ‘the colours of the rainbow’. Ha! Ha! Ha!”

Kuala Lumpur; Aspirations and Expectations

Let me get straight to the POINT! I want to voice my PIECE. I believe many folks in Kuala Lumpur have aspirations and expectations for this great city. We want her to PROSPER and at the very least, “PRESENTABLE” to the world! We must all POOL our ideas and our resources together in order to attain them! Kuala Lumpur, a spellbinding city, is the PRIDE of all city dwellers here! Who better to lead us if not the Minister of the Federal Territories, Raja Datuk Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin, who, during his younger days attended the Methodist Boys’ School and later continued his studies at the Victoria Institution and much later went on to study at the Royal Military College.

A corporate man with a “head for figures” and recently displayed great POLITICAL acumen. He is a very PERSONABLE middle age man who was PLUCKED from obscurity to become the Minister of the Federal Territories. Together with his PLEDGE, POSITION and POWER, I’m sure this city would be place on a much higher PEDASTAL that we can all be PROUD of! He is the man! He is the statesman PAR excellence!

Talking about man, let’s focus on the man in the street. Ordinary people like you and me. What are our goals in life? What do we hope to achieve? Before we PROGRESS any further, let’s look at the PROBLEMS we are facing at the moment.

The PROFLIGATE spending of tax payer’s money is not uncommon in the local councils or in any council for that matter! Unnecessary spending is not right! POSITIVE and PUNITIVE actions must be taken, swift and fast! No one in his right mind would want to be their PATRON saint. We must PULLED the plug on those involved. We must catch them with their PANTS down! To those with guilt written all over their faces, redeployment is the first option! Demotion, next!

At a staggering RM2.1bil, the 2010 budget for this city PACKS quite a PUNCH! The distributions must be fair and the allocations, used wisely! There are bound to be many PEJORATIVE remarks and comments from many people. All these must be taken in good stride. It should be remembered that the money belonged to the rakyat! Your sincerity in carrying out the responsibilities entrusted to you must be self-evident. PERTINENT comments and POINTS should not be “swept under the carpet”. They are to be tabled for discussion. We have the right to know! We insist!

I’m glad City Hall is going on an austerity drive. Many contractors who are service PROVIDERS would not be too happy about that! Many made their PILES even without “lifting their fingers.” For those PARVENU leeches, I say this: “Enough is enough! You had that coming! You’re grounded and PENALISED!” A large section of the POPULACE would only be too happy to see you “without any work”!

It was a good start City Hall had come up with a PROPOSAL. They want to do the landscaping in the city themselves. That would save a lot of tax payer’s money. A smart and PRACTICAL move. Optimum PLANNING goes a long way! City Hall can ask the advice of the experts in landscaping from the Limkokwing team. They’re the best in Landscape Design.

A few million ringgit to supply and plant bushes and shrubs in the city? You must be out of your mind! I’m absolutely PETRIFIED! Who wouldn’t? Must we listen to more PLATITUDES or your excuses about the dangers of over-spending? Give me the contract and I’ll give you orchids!

The PARKS are up for adoption! Crudely put it: “They are to be PRIVATISED!” Would there be tolls down the road? I’m not too sure how the adoption would work. Are some corporations really doing all these for the common folks or for their own interests? Someone even said this adoption was a great idea and senior citizens from his community would “be given gardening shears” to keep them occupied! I’m not PELTING at anyone in PARTICULAR. That’s not my style! The parks are not PRIVATELY owned. They belonged to the city… and honestly, would anyone want to maintain them for free? Quick, give me my shears now before I change my mind!

Let’s see what are the PLANS for the city dwellers who need a roof over their heads. It is heartening to know that the Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Minister has the interest of the city dwellers at heart. Some abandoned housing PROJECTS were revived in the city. It augers well for those who were “left in the cold” by some unscrupulous developers who “left without a trace.” Were they blacklisted? Maybe only the PUNY ones. The “big boys” remained unscratched! Why? A PECUNIARY gain for someone? I hope the Minister would look into this.

Public Housing Project (PPR) units in Kuala Lumpur are up for sale. But sadly, many flat dwellers simply cannot afford to own one. Financial constraints PRECLUDE them from owning one. Some survived on a shoestring budget. And others, their standards of living remain PITIFULLY low. They are feeling the PINCH! A solution must be worked out for them to own the units. The needs of the flat dwellers must take PRECEDENCE over individual requirements!

But some flat dwellers are indifferent! When they don’t have them, they want them! When they have them, they don’t look after them! It’s shocking to see some flats in this city in a sorry state. Is this an attitude PREVALENT among these PITEOUS flat dwellers? Is that the kind of environment they want to live in? How could anyone live with the unbearable stench and filth? Are they comfortable living “with the rats?” I’m sure the surrounding air is POLLUTED too! Whom do we blame then? The flat dwellers or the local council?

And to the who’s who in society, the filthy rich and the affluent, housing would be the last thing on their minds! From the morning wake up calls to “bedtime stories” they PROBABLY have Man Friday in attendance. Their only worry….missing the tee off with Tiger Woods!

Kuala Lumpur’s massive clean-up is scheduled for next year. We need the PROFOUND cooperation from everyone. I hope this is for real, not a mere PEP talk by the Minister. The saddest thing is: most city dwellers are not too zestful to get themselves involved. This campaign might only receive lukewarm response! Most of us are very well aware that we are not “so disciplined” and not “so obedient” like our neighbour from the south! They are so disciplined, so obedient and “so Singapore”. But can we blame them? With so many CCTVs all around their islands, can they afford not to? Even their dogs are afraid to PIDDLE anywhere they feel like it!

Maybe some people would be PIQUED by my POINTED and rude remarks. I know I’m in no position to say or judge people with my PERSPICACIOUS remarks. This is only my self-opinionated assessment. No offence meant to anyone, more so to our southern neighbour. Matter of fact, we love Singaporeans. If you do not believe me, ask the Johoreans. By the way, are there any of you in the city? Please raise your hands. Thank you. I’ll start the count.

Let’s focus on the more important issue in the city. There are still many squatters around. They are to be relocated in stages but some of them would not budge! They want to stay PUT! Meetings with former mayors of Kuala Lumpur and City Hall officers did not PAY dividends! The Minister must look into this! The ball is now in his court. Some form of decision must be taken. Minister, you cannot afford to have any PARTISAN views or feelings. You have to decide, come hell or high water! It’s for the good of everyone. We would like some answers, simple and straightforward, not a report that contained a PLETHORA of detail.

Let us now take a look at the ordinary, unimportant people within our midst. The homeless, the vagrants and the destitute, often wandering around aimlessly in the city, sometimes begging and at times, PILFERING. They are living in PENURY. They are living in extreme POVERTY. A dog’s life if I may say so. Will they see a better tomorrow? What can we do to help? Or are we just PITILESS onlookers? Many of us do not feel sympathetic towards their PLIGHT! We simply close our eyes and shut our ears! We sometimes even refused to listen to their PLEAS. Don’t tell me that this is not true. Are we really that arrogant, selfish or even impersonal? Then the funeral PYRE is the PLACE for us!

We live in a PLURAL society. We simply cannot afford to be PICKY! There must not be any POLARITY between us! If we choose to ‘walk and play” with our own race, sooner or later, we’ll find ourselves drifting further away from each other. Maybe one day we would reach a POINT of no return! By then, it would all be too late! The great PAINS our forefathers took to ensure that we must all “be one forever” would come to nought! Let’s not sow the seeds of distrust nor PREACH violence. We must not let the future generations suffer because of our failures, our shortcomings. We must show solidarity. When we’re united, nobody can “PENETRATE into our fort”. Good! Let’s do the “locomotion” come one weekend and make sure everyone takes part! “Come on baby, do the locomotion with me….” Where? You suggest the venue and of course I’ll be there! I need to loosen up every now and then.

To be quite honest with you, I’m PERFECTLY happy to be able to mingle with fellow Malaysians of different races. We do not harbour any animosity between us. There’s no me, no you, just us! The spirit of goodwill will PREVAIL till kingdom come if we execute PATIENCE and make an indomitable effort to understand one another! I trust our relationship has improved PERCEPTIBLY. I don’t PROFESS to be an expert in these subjects but I have an inkling they worked! I was “indoctrinated” from young by my parents that when we lived together among the other races, we would know our true self. Wise words of an owl.

So, do the local authorities know their true self? They must be PROFESSIONAL when they carry out their duties. They must show great tact in dealing with the folks in this city and also towards the aliens. Being a brute doesn’t help. Neither is brute force! The man in the street, the ordinary man, cannot be easily cowed! Intimidation does not work anymore! Times have changed! People changed! And, have you changed?

It irked me to read in the papers that one local council in another state was not ready to “throw down the gauntlet” when the court ruled against them. Strangely, with so many “wild animals on the loose” in their immediate vicinity, yet they chose to hound this “domestic feline”. What kind of PERTINACIOUS people were they? Or did they have a PENCHANT to make the life of that man miserable?

It PEEVED me even more to find out that they were going all out to finish him off! Their PEREMPTORY behaviour is not something that goes down well with many of us. Eventually, the PRICE to pay is going to be heavy! For every action there is a reaction. Do not ignore this. The PERILS are real! Their “rating” would surely PLUMMET! I know there’s no easy solution to that problem, but they must at least try to find a better way to solve it. A PERVERSE decision to PERSECUTE would not solve anything! It would only earn them hatred. Eventually, they would be PISSED-off!

Many of us do not want to be PUSHED around! All we want is to earn a decent living and PROVIDING for the family. Is that too much to ask? Whatever the matter, we need to find amicable solutions. Everything must be done within limits! High-handed actions would sometimes backfire! What would happen if emotions that have been PENT up for so long exploded? Any flare-ups would not auger well for anybody. For the common good of everybody, we need common-sense approach to everyday matters. It would be no laughing matter if things do not worked out to everyone’s expectation and satisfaction! We cannot just go around treading on our own people!

But of course you can go round and “tread on” the aliens! They are just another PAIN in the neck! I am talking about those who do not have the 3Ps (PASSPORT, PERMIT and PAPERS). They seemed to be “PARACHUTING” from the skies into our city. PROMPT and decisive action must be taken by the authorities to stop their “invasion.” There should not be any PALTRY excuses! Things would come to a PRETTY PASS if we are not PREPARED to take immediate action on them.

Sometimes, even a PINPRICK from these aliens would give us the shivers! When they flocked together, only God knows what they would do! Some even behaved like feudal barons that existed during the Middle Ages in Europe, monopolising certain sectors of business as if it is their right! Can the local authorities get down to business and do something about that? We do not want to face the POSSIBILITY of being aliens in our own city! These aliens, without the 3Ps, have no business to be here in the first place!

Isn’t it ironic to see us “misplaced” when the aliens have “shops and boutiques” in the city? Are the authorities not doing enough? The incubus of their “total” freedom is something we are not too happy with! Their often, decadent behaviour infuriated many of us! The authorities must act fast to allay our fears and our unhappiness. Do not POOH-POOH our grievances. These are not PIFFLING complaints. We are worried for ourselves and for our children! They are the aliens, not us!

Do not compromise on security and PEACE. I’m sure many of us are feeling increasingly PERTURBED by their PRESENCE. Do not PROLONG our agony, mentally or physically! We want to see a quick end to this torture!

More often than not, their burgeoning POPULATION is also a cause for concern. PLEASE act fast before everything get out of hand! My city, Kuala Lumpur does not belong to these uninvited aliens. There cannot be a PARITY of treatment for them. They are not us! The legal ones must toe the line. As for those without PROPER documents, sent them home! By the way, where’s the man with the baseball cap? We need his services. We need his planes!

We want to walk on the streets without feeling worried or nervous. We want to sleep PEACEFULLY at night. Again, is that too much to ask? Not really if we take the initiative to be good and friendly neighbours first. We need to be PUBLIC-spirited in order to cooperate harmoniously. We need to “stake-out” for each other. These are the basic PHILOSOPHIES we must adhered to overcome the “fear factor”. We must stay vigilant at all times. We simply cannot afford to let our guard down!

So, when everything is done right…the local councils serving without PREJUDICE, serving dedicatedly and should be completely without bias, then everyone would be happy and contented. We can then PAT ourselves on the back and we can all celebrate! We can all PARTY! Only then can we tell the world this: “My city beckons you! Malaysia welcomes you!” Adieu for now.

1Malaysia. PEOPLE First. PERFORMANCE Now.

Kuala Lumpur, Truly The Best

More than a month had gone and almost all of us had heap nothing but praises for the Federal Territories including myself! We painted rosy pictures of the Federal Territories. We “hid behind” those rosy pictures! Was that all we could do? It’s time for me to move away and voice my say.

In my first blog, I had written positively on Kuala Lumpur. My intention was clear as day. I wanted the world to be acquainted with this beautiful city of mine. To know my city better! To elevate her status higher! Simple as that! How far had I achieved that, I really do not know. I can’t imagine that anyone would want to read anything that I had written or would even remember what I wrote! I hope I am wrong!

True! I am very passionate about this city. Like any other cities in the world, it has its flaws and shortcomings. No city is perfect! The obvious bane of the city is the daily, chaotic traffic situations. Manoeuvring in and out of traffic needs skill and patience. One needs the patience of a saint to remain sane on the roads! Welcome to Kuala Lumpur!

Traffic jam is every driver’s nightmare. If your schedules are tight you must give yourself extra time. You must plan before you drive. It would save you a lot of headaches and probably save you your petrol.

The authorities must come up with plans for a system to reduce traffic congestions in the city. These often, chaotic situations had driven many drivers up against the wall! This is especially so during the mornings and evenings rush. There seemed to be no end in sight!

Public transportation doesn’t help much either! Need to improve existing public transportation. Drastic measures must be taken immediately and these could conceivably improve the city’s traffic.

For many of us, the LRT (light rail transit) and the MRT (mass rail transit) plying within the city are not much of a complement either. Widely acclaimed to be the alternative “transporter”. Maybe only to a small faction. Sometimes, you may not be able to get to your destination when you ride them. Buses and cabs fare no better either! If you have a potential customer to see or attend an interview you would want to be “in one piece” right? Get the picture?

Mother Nature is not so forgiving at times. Whenever she unleashed her wrath, be prepared for the worst. When floods hit, they hit hard. Many areas in the city would be in a sea of water. If you’re caught in the floods, make sure you know how to swim. Sadly, there’s still no solution in sight. Who do we blame? I would say: “Everybody.” If everyone can come together and do their part I’m sure we can overcome this problem. Let’s leave the “blame factor” and let the authorities figure out a way to handle that. Let’s move on to the plus factor.

Making a living, through hard work and honesty in this city isn’t very difficult. Kuala Lumpur would not be harsh on you. Whatever trade you ply, remember this: “Honesty is STILL the best policy.” I’ve been plying my small business for more than two decades. Trust me, honesty pays!

One of the most beautiful aspects of this city is that we do not need a “Berlin wall” to separate our multicultural society. We are not cantankerous in nature. You’ll find us very affable and affectionate. It would not be easy to drive a wedge between us. We can live side by side in harmony. Work together in harmony. Bedfellows? Get married first! Ha! Ha! Ha!

There are many ways to get tourists to come to Kuala Lumpur, the city that oozes charm and serenity. It is also one of the safest cities in the world! Come and see for yourself. You’ll not regret it. That’s a promise.

How would I lure the world to my city in the first place? To tell the world that Kuala Lumpur is very much “alive and kicking”? One way is to get on the offensive. Go all out. Do not leave anything to chances. Would this method work? See below.

We need to advertise in all major cities like the way some people do. Very ingenious, very creative and very illegal. Ha! Ha! Ha! Gotcha! We have ambassador for this and ambassador for that! Kuala Lumpur needs one too! But who would be the right candidate? We need a local and sadly Jean Todt cannot be short listed. Most likely, Michelle Yeoh would not approve of it. Moreover, he’s with the Ministry of Tourism. Below are two likely candidates. Very familiar and very famous. Both gentlemen are locals.

Who would you vote for? The gentleman on the left might not be suitable because he would probably say the wrong things! Bad publicity for Kuala Lumpur. Yes, we vote for the gentleman with the baseball cap. He comes cheap! He’s “low cost”. The high flying “low cost” entrepreneur who’s highly acclaimed “low cost” strategy worked marvellously for him. To the Minister of Federal Territories I would like to say to you: “Get him before he flies away.” So guys, if you want to vote for him, do click at the end of my blog! A vote for him is a vote for me. Ha! Ha! Ha! Gotcha again!

So, who says blogging needs to be all-serious, all-criticism or even all-profanities? A dash of humour goes a long way right? We need to loosen up a little now and then. We must have a good sense of humour and I have my own peculiar brand of humour. After all, life is short! Why must we fight when we can love? Why must we leave when we are welcome? Remember, my city welcomes you only if you come in good faith.

The advent of new media like the internet has touched the lives of many people, especially the younger generation. There is a price to pay. Some have even lost touch with the people dear to them. But all is not lost. Here I go again, suggesting outrageous ideas. As responsible parents, we must take the initiative to keep in touch with our “lost souls”, our children. Make plans for a family vacation and put my beautiful city next on your list. If you’ve forgotten how beautiful and unique my city is, scrolled to find my previous blog titled: “Yours Truly, Kuala Lumpur” dated 08/11/09. The truth is out there! No! No! This is not another X-File story. There are no aliens from outer space in Kuala Lumpur but there are aliens from neighbouring countries! See, how friendly my city is! An absolute knockout! Needless to say, my city, my Kuala Lumpur is a notable success. You’ll not only be infatuated with my city, you’ll fall in love with her! That’s quite something! Don’t you think so?

While you’re at it, deciding, I bid you adieu! Remember, the red carpet is still rolled out for you.

Your's Truly, Kuala Lumpur

I'm in a quandary. I need inspirations. I'm at my wits' end worrying on how to start my blog. Initially, my hope of giving Kuala Lumpur, one of the three Federal Territories of Malaysia a boost gradually withered away. I do not expect anyone to hold the fort for me. That would be foul play. It would be a grave injustice to this city if I do not come up with something to blog on.
Kuala Lumpur, an ultra modern, dynamic and vibrant city that gives other cities a run for their money. This city never ceased to amaze locals and foreigners alike! A city that fascinates! A city to be passionate about! I do not wish to press the point, but this city is!
This commercial hub is a major tourist draw. Tourists from within and without flocked to this city like bees to honey. So, what makes this city so special? Makes it tick?

We are a multicultural society. We are people of diverse cultures but we are not a racially diverse community. We live as one. We are living in relative comfort. Our mutual respect for one another has prevailed for a long time. We can get along just fine. We've been together through thick and thin to be where we are today. We can blend well. That's no doubt about that! We're blessed. There's no bad blood among the races. Incidentally, there was the racial riots on May 13,1969. That caused a serious blot in our history. All of us learnt from that bitter experience. If everyone does their bit, I'm sure we can go a long way. Think twice before you get that crazy notion of trying to drive a wedge between us. Not anymore!

1Malaysia. Do these snapshots qualify? By the way, these were not taken under false pretences.

Take a look at the picture above. How would you rate it? It was taken at my LCCT ( low cost Chinese teashop). It is my eatery. Those smiling faces that you see are of my customers who are very close to me and my family. Some have been with me for more than ten years. They would be at my eatery five days a week without fail. They are not from my race but for many of us, R&R, sorry guys, not Rest and Recreation but Race and Religion are no issues at all! You’ll be surprise at the age gap. I’m a fatherly figure to them. Most of them are more or less half my age.

This was taken during lunch. Need I say more?

Let’s get back to my city. If my city is next on your 'hit list', you have to be ready to embark on an unforgettable adventure of absolute fun and excitement. You'd be enthralled! You'd be thrilled! You had been warned. Now let's see how to get you to start on your adventure.

My city is full to the brim with activities. Certainly you're not going to sit through the day doing nothing. You'd be amazed to see the rows and rows of shopping complexes and premier malls all within walking distance. Many are award-winning aces that are unrivalled in luxury retailing. Fashion, food and urban leisure. You name them. This city has them all. Still not satisfied? You can always make your way downtown to Chinatown. This is predominantly a Chinese enclave. There are many locally manufactured products sold here. You must always bargain here or you would end up getting more than you bargained for! Again, be warned. This is one of the many happy hunting grounds for the pickpockets. You might just be their next prey.

The food here is fabulous. There's no doubt about that. Eat whatever you fancy. The food here would not cause you a bomb. From hawker stalls to sidewalk cafes. From restaurants to fine dining in hotels. Take your pick. You'd be delighted with the savouries offered. Tickle your taste buds by savouring the variety of local foods. You may not get them elsewhere.

My city has a year-round equatorial tropical rain forest climate. Warm and sunny. So, for day outings and sight-seeings, there shouldn't be any problem! There are many interesting places to visit. But not before you take this History lesson.

Year:1957. We were fortunate. Great Britain was kind enough to let us fend for ourselves. Everyone was happy. When the 'Johns' and 'Johnnies' (that was how we addressed the British back then) left, they left us with a legacy. We learned the language of the colonial masters. Colonial masters? I begged to differ. If they were the masters, were we slaves? When we were 'freed at last' did we tear down their buildings or did we desecrate their churches? No! We did not carry out those despicable actions. In fact we maintained and preserved everything British! Their buildings and churches still stand today. Malaysians are not that bad but some chose to think otherwise! One of the best ways to dispel the myth is to pay us a visit. Don’t run away with the idea that I was pulling your legs.

Upon your arrival to my beautiful city, you’d know that I was telling you the truth from the very beginning. We have some of the tallest structures in the world. Awe-inspiring towers. For a breathtaking view of my beautiful city, you must visit the 'lookout' tower. It is situated in one of the oldest virgin forest in the world within a city. It is a 421m high telecommunication and broadcasting tower and it has a revolving restaurant at Level Two of the Towerhead. There is something very special about this tower. There would be two international sporting events yearly. One, the participants would have to start from the base of the tower and would end at the top. The second, the participants would have to start from the top and end at the bottom. You guessed right. Yes, I was talking about the KL International Towerthon Run and the KL International (BASE) Jump. This tower is one of the favourites for many athletes from all over the world.

The 'Goliath' twins are no pushovers either! Easily recognizable. Immensely tall and impressive, almost touching the sky! These structures were completed in 1997. An epic achievement! A brilliant feat of engineering, The pride of the city. This is not a flatulent boast! Even Alain Robert aka Spiderman from France could not resist the temptation to 'crawl up' to the top of one of the twins. No mean feat! Would there be another superhero? Cicakman ( our very own superhero), are you up to the challenge?

Next stop: the cultural centres, the flea market.....

When night falls, night-life begins. It's party-time! Feast your eyes on the transformation of my city in the night. Entertainment centres and nightspots would be like new buds sprouting from the trees. They are almost everywhere. There’s no shortage of razzamatazz too! Everyone is trying to outdo everybody. A convivial atmosphere, surrounding the city. It’s simply amazing!

I’m sure you’re not going to sit through the night staring at the ceilings of your rooms, right? For the red-blooded young males and females, it's time to let your hair down. Raise your hands and swing your hips! Strut your stuff! Join the jolly and rumbustious crowd. Show everyone what you got! Paint the town red! Enjoy yourselves. For the more conservative ones, there is contemporary music, the mood music for your listening pleasure. There's always something for everyone. Nobody would be left out! Jive! Jive! Jive all night long!
After a night of jiving and swinging, it would be good to take a breath of fresh air the next morning. Take a stroll in the beautiful parks in my city. Enjoy the lush greenery, the beautiful lakes and feel the atmosphere of peace and tranquillity. Do these at your own leisurely pace. You’d feel nothing but sheer exhilaration by your walks. Be cautioned. Do not violate the parks in any way. Violation is against the law. Everyone knows that! Silly me!

My city provides excellent public amenities. They are at your disposal. Use them at your own convenience. Do not show a total disregard for them.

I have blogged at length about the city and it would be appropriate to shift my attention to an individual who has won wide recognition for his achievements.

1Malaysian. This is about one young man who made it to the stars. A young man who has his life spaced out. A medical career. His social obligations and his impending marriage. Many of you would have guessed who I was referring to. We’re fortunate to have him with us. He’s our astronaut-surgeon, Dr. Sheikh Muszaphar, who shot to fame after he was shot into space two years ago. He recently opened a clinic in the city and three orphanages were picked to receive free treatments. That’s quite something!

There are many charitable organisations and social volunteers in my city. Besides fund raising campaigns, there are many who sacrificed their time to attend to the needs of the orphans, the old and homeless and the terminally ill. Their plight did not go unnoticed. Even strays and unwanted pets are not overlooked. Feel like getting rid of your arowanas? Call me!

I can go on and on and on but it’s best I leave some things for you to discover yourself. Why hummed and hawed? Decide now. While you’re at it, I bid you adieu.

My city beckons you. My country awaits you. W E L C O M E !

p/s We’ve rolled out the red carpet for you, just in case.

Cowboys And Red Indians.

A few days ago, the 'cowboys and 'red' Indians' of Sungai Tua, Ulu Yam, along with their herds, were making their way in search of a 'new frontier'- the Selangor State secretariat building in Shah Alam. They were not looking for meadows to provide grazing for their cattles but went there to graze the Selangor Pakatan-led government. Sadly, they were not any better than those from Section 23 or those from the 'High Chaparal Ranch'. It was even sadder if their bereft actions were at the behest of another political party.

Throwing tantrums like little children, went berserk and besieged the Selangor Pakatan-led government just because they were left 'in the wilderness' would complicate matters even more. They failed to make good their ambush because they did not have all the ammunition they needed in the first place! Their unconciliatory actions were carried out with almost indecent haste! Their lack of equable temperament was their defeat. It would be a high price to pay! Would they face the hangman eventually?

An A For Alonso.

Sometimes, to save one's own skin, one has to lie through one's teeth. Last year's 'Singapore Scandal' that was exposed recently by Witness X was widely accepted as the greatest sporting scandal. The fate of Flavio Briatore and Pat Symonds of Renault were sealed.

The only way to escape the hangman's noose was to feign innocence. Alonso did just that! A brilliant manoeuvre. But many questions still remained unanswered. He took the easiest way out. Deny everything from the beginning to the end. He knew he would lose everything if he was found guilty. Can we blame him? After all, he is human. Surely he must have known something was not 'on track' when he was asked to pit on lap 12. He chose to remain silent. Silence is golden. He adroitly avoided answering questions when pressed by the media.

I'm sure the team of Alonso must have worked out a strategy to beat the competition prior to the race. Don't tell me nothing had been planned at all! When things do not work out the way you want them to , what would you do? Beats me. Of course the stakes are high and with the adrenalin flowing, the heart rate increases and sometimes one reacts differently or even foolishly.

Remember the Hungarian GP 2007 where Lewis Hamilton was his teammate? They were with McLaren. LH was a thorn in his side! They openly show their dislike for each other. A professional racer with atypical behaviour. Crashgate. Spygate. What's next?

Royalties And Foodbrawl.

Once again we are in the limelight. Negeri Sembilan versus Johore. No! It's not a football match. It's a royal match. It's akin to an EGM. The match can take place only when it is absolutely necessary. It is a rarity because this match must be played in a court.

And in Kelantan, a prince is suing two palace officials for failing to keep their mouths shut. What would the score be at the end of the game? Would there be red cards or red faces? Meanwhile, how prepared are the Indonesian team of Manohara when they face the Kelantanese? Would there be a rematch? How would the game end when both sides start to burn each others flags?

Next is the 'foodbrawl' match. The Tourism minister started the brawl rolling. Now, the Malaccans, Penangnites and even Singaporeans are making a beeline to lay claim to several dishes. Who gets the royalties?

Char kuay teow anyone? No! It's not Penang's. It was my late grandmother's recipe. She was from Sumatra.

Captured this fool-load on the first day of Hari Raya at Fraser's Hill.

Loosen The Noose.

Dear Home Minister, the approval of citizenship must be a conscientous effort from you. There must not be any ulterior motive. For years to come, many 'blue ic(s)' would remember you as a HM with a heart. You have given the 'stateless' a new lease of life. A new hope. A new sense of belonging.

But be forewarned. There are still a portion of rakyat who are totally blind, totally against the administrators because the noose is tight around their necks. They are suffocating! Loosen the noose and let them breathe! The previous HM had a brain without any grey matters. His arrogrance and his stupidity led to his own downfall. He had that coming. He was too blind to see.

Presently, there is a drift in the relationship amongst the races. This comes about because we simply do not want to understand each other. Of late, we've taken many things for granted. The racists, the religious bigots are the very people who jeopardized the harmony and the goodwill that existed. Let us stop the drift and mend the rift. Let us do that this Hari Raya. The bond of friendship must be tightened not the noose!

Amber Alert. Will It Work?

The intention is good. When a child goes missing or is kidnapped, the whole nation would be 'mobilised'. How far as to its success is anybody's guess. Sad to say, sometimes reality sucks! For many, with a lackadaisical approach and a couldn't be bothered attitude, this alert system would be 'in cold storage' in no time.

Let's look at cases of children gone missing, kidnapped or even murdered throughout the years. How did that come about and how many cases were solved? Are parents to be blamed? Yes. Some parents failed as parents. They failed to educate their children to be street-smart. There's hardly any urgency on the part of most parents. As long as parents believe in fairy tales, crimes involving children would continue to escalate. This is the stark reality of life.

Many parents failed to second-guess the outcome of their blatant disregard for the safety of their children. Parents need the second sight! They need to be on the lookout at all times. Parents need to monitor the whereabouts of their children. All these precautions must be second nature. Never compromise when it comes to the safety of your children!

Got To Hide My Photographs!

Was that a tit for tat? You do unto me, I do unto you! Exactly, what was that clown trying to prove? What a load of bollocks! Immediate action must be taken to stamp out this despicable behaviour. It was a clear attempt by this clown to relate to the behaviour of our ancestors in the distant past. An atavistic urge! The law of the caveman.

Many would not be too happy about this unfortunate incident. There'll be more 'side-shows' in the days to come. Someone is about to stir-up the hornet's nest. I find this racist idea to shoe garland Tun Mahathir's photograph very repulsive, very disturbing.

We must rethink radically our priorities and resurrect the old customs and traditions of our older generations where they mixed and mingled freely with all races in a spirit of good neighbourliness.

MIC (Minority In Control).

After the MIC party elections, it was still the same sad tale! The mic was still a force to be reckon with! Many clamoured for change. Can the caterpillars change into butterflies or remained caterpillars? Can the metamorphosis takes place eventually? It still remains an open question.

The almost certain thing is heads would definitely rolled. When one plays with fire,be ready to get burnt. I believe one particular blogger who had been very unhappy with the mic would have her blood boiled over! Anyway, let's not play judge, jury and executioner. The mic were democratically elected and there's nothing one can do about that. There will surely be a change in the political landscape.

For those who were a little too ambitious, you had played your cards wrong. Your visionary insights came to nought when you lost.

Got To Hide. Not Again!

It's heartbreaking to read about the plight of the Penans living in the interior jungles of Sarawak. Penan girls, as young as ten, abused, molested and raped by the timber workers. Such disgusting acts of shame!

Well, I'll be damned: if no action or investigation is taken by the Sarawak police. Has the Sarawak CID chief, SAC II, Huzir Mohammed got any brains at all? The sexual crimes had indeed happened and this clown wants the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry to furnish him the detailed information before the police spring into action. What absurdity! What nonsense! What kind of police chief do we have here? This clown must have seen too many of the 'Mission Impossible' films. Let the IGP do the 'Mission Possible'. Demote or sack him!

Just go ahead and do your part. You are a disgrace to the entire police force with your abysmal ignorance. You should know better!

The plight of the Penans had been highlighted. What about the Orang Asli? The three main groups, the Negrito, Senoi and the Proto-Malays? Are they facing the same threat as the Penans? Starprobe, what are you waiting for?

Got To Hide, Again.

The confrontational days between Indonesia and Malaysia was from 1962-1966. The undeclared war was Indonesia's attempts to destabilise the new Federation of Malaysia. Indonesia ended the confrontation because of their domestic problems. A treaty of Peace was signed on August 11,1966 .

The question now is, would there be another confrontation? This looming threat cannot be taken lightly. The Indonesians were very vocal and their actions, frightening. Their jihad, if one can call that, is very real. Unlike the jihad waged on our Indian neighbours by a group of clowns of section 23 in Shah Alam! They had openly accused Malaysia of 'trespassing' on their customs and cultures. I hope common sense prevail during this testing situation. We cannot blame entirely the Indonesians for being testy. We might have taken too much for granted!

We need to retrace our steps and find amiacable solutions to these problems that had stood out like a sore thumb. Let's restore amiacable relations again! We need them as much as they need us. Simple as that!

It goes beyond the confines of human knowledge if we continue with our conflicts. Nothing good would come out of it. Civilized people do not have judgemental attitudes. Civilized people do not pass judgement by the roadside. Civilized people sit down to talk and solve. Are we there yet?

Tuesday, September 8, 2009

Got To Hide.

The last two weeks were long weeks for many of us. We vented our unhappiness over the violent outburst and demonic actions by some residents of section 23 in Shah Alam. It's a great relief now that the authorities have finally 'got back' their senses! The Attorney-General wants those protesters hauled to court. A good move, albeit a little late. Some were arrested early and I believe some went into hiding. Got to hide, for now.

The authorities are fully aware that the rakyat are watching. The world is watching. So, authorities, you better watch out! The mistake the authorities did was glaringly obvious. They failed to douse the fire when it was small. It would be tough to put out a raging inferno now!

Let us all be patient and wait for the court to decide on their fate. It is absolutely imperative that the court must be fair and impartial and the judge should be completely without bias!

Still Got The Fireworks.

The fireworks were still there! This racially-inclined, demented and hostile mob with their 'mob rule' behaviour must be mopped-up once and for all! Must we all submit to their tyrannical ways? They are nothing but a bunch of oppressors and tyrants! Prompt action must be taken and the guilty parties must have their heads chopped off, not the cow!

All peace-loving rakyat must resent their histrionic behaviour. Put an end to their bluster! Their barbaric behaviour must not be tolerated any longer! Their actions were a real kick in the teeth for all of us. The acrimonious meeting with the Mentri Besar of Selangor ended in a deadlock. How long would these carry on? Mounting tension and mutual distrust is the order of the day. The respect and trust we had for each other is, sadly, hanging in a precarious balance. Has fate predestined us to 'go our separate ways', or bind us as one? Let's not prattle away, instead, let's mend the rift. There is still hope.

IGP. Got An Extension For What?

This is the second extension for the IGP. Frankly, he doesn't deserve this at all! Sadly, the Home Minister has not find the right candidate to replace him. Can a docile IGP bring out the best in the force? He has the absolute dominance in the force and his hands are tied. He's always shooting his mouth off, telling of his success in reducing crimes, fighting corruption in the force. How far has he succeeded is still a big question mark! It's debatable whether or not his reforms have improved conditions.

The rise in crimes, the racially-inclined incidents, a vociferous group of demonstrators, these are the problems to look out for! To solve them asap. The rakyat want to feel safe, to feel secure. Actions, if any, must be taken, fast and swift! Keep your jabbering low lest when you retire, retire with your honour intact.

Corruption is still rampant in the force. He knows it, the rakyat know it. Sitting behind the desk would not solve anything. Do not fail to live up to your principle, your expectations, the rakyat's expectations.

I Got MC.

It was regretful to hear the follies of the Kota Seputeh assemblyclown who was left off the hook for his two absences during the state assembly sittings! We've had a bellyful of his flimsy excuses! After deliberating for four hours, the EC chairclown concluded that the KS assemblyclown had not gone against section 51 of the State constitution. What bull!

This clown even had the cheek to pledge that he would turn over a new leaf. To pledge without batting an eyelid is as good as implying he had not done anything wrong. Again what bull! This clown was even grateful to be given a second chance because he had been a 'big, bad boy' all along. Whether to believe this clown or not, depends on a number or imponderables. His sincerity? His jiggery-pokery? The EC chairclown had failed miserably. He did not remove one of his clown from his circus! Moreover, one doesn't need to deliberate if the medical chits submitted were or were not 'bones of contention'. Instead, the EC chairclown chose to close one eye and shut the other!

Of Rs And Ts.

Happy Merdeka fellow Malaysians. We've come a long way but some chose to think otherwise! To these bigots out there, I have only this to say, "you're the bane of society". Your barbarous act, executed out of sheer stupidity and your barbarous use of language, inciting violence had failed you miserably because the majority of the rakyat are not with you! The rakyat know you better! The rakyat can see through you! The rakyat know of your evil intentions. Your nugatory ideas and arguments do not carry any weight. Don't get carried away lest you 'd be carried out!

My parents were not educated but they taught me in more ways than you ever know. For that I am thankful. They taught me to RESPECT. Always be humble to your elders, neighbours and friends. We must make a conscious effort not to belittle our fellow Malaysians from the other RACES and RELIGIONS. If we REFRAIN and REFINE ourselves, we would eventually REAP the REWARDS for being considerate and conservative. We must make RADICAL changes to combat RACISM!

We must not TOLERATE superheroes who blatantly want to create animosities between us. Inciting social unrest and throwing tantrums like children! We must be firm. Do not let their blustering talks frightened us. Practice religious toleration and everything would be fine. We must not be easily influenced by the melodrama acted out by these superheroes!

Let's THINK ahead. THINK straight and THINK twice before we blindly play into their hands. We must deplore and REJECT their devious plans altogether! We must curtail their ambitions.
We must TACKLE these superheroes head-on. Show them we are completely aghast by their highfalutin ideas and idealogies. Let us TERMINATE these superheroes once and for all! Are you with me?

The Nicol In Us.

Do we have the Nicol in us? The story of her in the Star today jolted me a little. She's a real gem. A real princess. Humble and unassuming. If only some superheroes emulate her! Sadly, many chose to live in their own enclosure. Enslaved in their own small world. Plotting and hatching to create chaos and mayhem for their selfish gains. These are extremely disturbing. Extremely dangerous.

To the sane and peace loving, we must never fall into their entrapment. We must be able to see through their lies and deceptions. Appearances are sometimes, profoundly deceptive. We must deprive these superheroes the 'moral and physical' support they needed, without which they would eventually fade away.

I Need Superheroes.

Yes, superheroes who cannot fly! Not those who zipped here, zapped there! I need superheroes who are loud-mouthed, arrogrant and hot-headed! Superheroes with outlandish behaviour. We do have some. One superhero is from UMNO youth. He's the bureau chairman who gave a thinly veiled threat to the Netherlands for a domestic problem involving one of his 'orang kita'.

The 'Flying Dutchman' must return his kid to his wife or face the consequences. Should he? After all, he's the father of that kid too! Cross my heart, I really felt sorry for them. I would not want to take sides. I hope the distraught wife and her husband would 'cross the Rubicon' with open minds and hearts! They are at the crossroads.

Another superhero in our midst is Ibrahim Haji Sabri, who made a fool of himself after Friday's prayers last week. A neurotic and a nonconformist. A complete jerk! Many sane rakyat were not at all amused with his 'jihad cry'. Many were astounded at his behaviour! Must we squandered all that we had achieved throughout the years? It would be fatal. We must not let this happen. We must throw all our energies into making our country a success. For us, for our future generations! We are truly blessed. We must not lose this gift! Not now, not ever!

The Bridge On The River Kwai.

Should we take sides? Are you for the Penans living inside the remote areas in central Sarawak or the timber company which was tasked to clear a portion of the jungle for a dam? The area was earmarked for the 'Great Flood' to create a reservoir for the dam. The furore over the soon-to-be dismantle bridge had caught the attention of many.

Prior to the intrusion by the timber company, how did the natives go about their daily lives? How did they travel from one settlement to another? They were able to carry on with their daily activities long before the bridge was built. The natives had no cause to be angry or be agitated with the timber company. Anyway, the timber company had no obligation to built neither do they owe the natives the bridge.

Let's get down to brass tacks. I sympathized with the natives and also to the Catholic Church because they would not have 'the easy way out'. It would be a problem to deliver foodstuffs and the kinds to the natives now. But nothing much could be done because the bridge was not built for the natives in the first place! Even if the bridge was not dismantled, eventually the bridge would just become a rusty metal wreck. The bridge needs to be maintained at all times. And who's going to maintain it? You? Me? Think again! Let's not be too quick to point fingers at anybody. Let's be rational. Let's not raise hell. Let's not raise our voice. Let's not raise anybody's hackles for that matter!

Dear PM, Forget The PM (Post-Mortem).

As usual, it is the norm. After every election defeat, BN would do the inevitable. They would hold a pm on the party's election defeat. Dear PM, please forget the pm as that would not be necessary. A pm, after an election defeat is nothing but a 'face saving antidote'. Lose graciously. This is what democracy is about and maybe BN can still have the face. There's really nothing wrong or ashamed in any election defeat.

Dear PM, do not cry over spilt milk. Losing is not the end of everything. Be strong and assertive. Take everything in your stride but you must never ever lose your sight! You have the clout and it comes with heavy responsibilities. Remember the three monkeys. See no evil, hear no evil, talk no evil. Maybe then, the tide would turn in your favour.

I'm not aligned to any political party. I'm just an ordinary rakyat who does not want to see my country be 'torn apart' by some short-sighted, shallow thinking blithering clowns!

NIBS To Nap.

NIBS (nazir, imam, bilal, siak), the latest moral team of Selangor is about to spring into action. Muslims and Muslimins be warned. Do not drink in public. Toe the line or face the consequences! I hope NIBS would not be too over-zealous when carrying out their duties. Do not behave like how JAIS had done on many occasions. Proper procedures must be adhered to at all times. They have to be careful whenever they skate on thin ice. There are likely to be some retaliations and common sense must prevail.

Alcohol makes one's mind muzzy when consumed too much. You would not be able to think straight. You would not be as sober as a judge. Thus, whenever NIBS is confronted in this kind of situation, they must be level-headed and not jump down somebody's throat at will. This could be very dangerous!

School Bus Driver From Hell.

Bukit Permai residents be warned! You have a 'Flying Finn' with you. Are your school going kids safe whenever they board this school bus? The two pictures below tell a thousand stories. I've seen this daredevil doing his stunts many times along this stretch of road. A number of near misses and sometimes 'death defying' manoeuvres, especially in the wee hours of the mornings. This accident happened last Saturday.

MACC. Want Or Not?

Back then, when we don't have them, we wanted them. Now, when we have them, we don't want them! It seems that we always have a gripe on this instituition. When they were powerless, we complained. Now, when they are powerful, we complain yet again! I believe our fears proved groundless. Many believe they wrote 'obituaries'. Always high and mighty! Why? Do you think they 'bed' suspects to extract information? Don't kid ourselves. They are simply a high-powered instituition. They 'hunt and kill'. And if one is a clean sheet, rest assured that you would not be hunted down.

Of late, they are not in our good books. There are bound to be some black sheep, some rotten apples and some scoundrels in the organisation or in all organisations for that matter! Many considered them the scourge of society but without them, there would be many dissatisfied and unhappy people. Simply put. We need them to be around whether we like it or not. Somebody has to do the 'dirty and deplorable' job and bear the full brunt of the incessant outbursts and complaints from many of us. We must look from all angles before we incapacitate them. We cannot simply shoot them down or continuously barraged them with criticisms. We are not in their shoes. Everything they do, they do behind closed doors. We have shown a cynical disdain to them and what are we? A complete disgrace!

Anything To Recycle- For Charity?

Give yourself a pat on your back if you've donated in goods and kinds to charitable organisations. But are you sure your 'discards' really goes to the deserving charities? In my personal opinion, not really! I was, quite frankly, surprised when I visited one charitable organisation. It's a factory of sort. Walled up and strictly out of bounds. There were some very large and fierce dogs in the compound. There were a number of foreign workers who were delegated with specific jobs.

Inside the compound I saw a number of very expensive cars. Some with fancy number plates. After a few discreet inquiries, someone spilled the beans and all this while I thought all our donations would perk some poor souls up! How completely wrong was I! The spurious claims by some charitable organisations have severely dented their image. Their spoils are high and free!

'Pirates' On The High Seas

I was flabbergasted when I read the news of our reporters who put their lives in dangerous waters. That was not a river cruise but an attempt to sail the ocean to a destination some 150km away. 30 people cramped into a fishing vessel and 10 were without life jackets! And how many of them could swim? If there was a tragedy that day, what were their chances of survival? That was a very silly thing to do. How come not even one of them objected to that nightmare trip? They should've known better. Even the Titanic sank in the high seas! All of you should be thankful to God for your safe return.

On Shaky Ground

The housing offer for the mutinous villagers of Kg. Buah Pala had been withdrawn. An offer of a double-storey house worth about RM500K each to the 24 had not been taken up. They have only themselves to blame. In life, sometimes we win, sometime we lose. But sadly, for these mutineers, they lost everything! Do not blame the authorities or the developer. This land belongs to the developer. For your retaliation against the owners of the land, you are now standing on shaky grounds! Either you move on or move out. The choice is yours.

The Predators

Watched out for the predators! You'll never know when they'll swoop down on you. Everytime you commit an offence be ready to be 'kill' by these predators! The 'killing' starts when you are not from their flock. If you can speak their language- that's one consolation. Most of the time, these predators will be very polite to you first (to gauge your reaction). When you show anxiety or fear, they know it's time to move in for the kill!

At the end of the day, when these predators take home the 'meat' to feed their nests, I wish someone can tell me the meat is one hundred percent halal! Better yet! Can the head of the predators enlightened all of us on this? In the face of public obloquy, the head of the predators must response and not perched on the high cliff! A perfunctory nod from the high cliff would not suffice!

Surprisingly, someone wrote in his blog that the 'chinese flock serviced the meat' to these predators. I agree to a certain extent. But does he know that these predators also 'self-service'? Look at the other 'foreign flocks'. When they are cornered by these predators, they are not killed but massacred!

Kids from Terengganu

Kids, none more than twelve years old, caught downloading smut. The price these kids paid? Nil. Pornography at the fingertips. God knows what else they downloaded. There are many more kids like these and what has Kamarulzaman Mohamed got to say? Just because some singers from 'the other side' of the world want to entertain us, he got so riled up and started to give lots of unwarranted excuses. Moral decay this, moral decay that! Our youths would be corrupted! Please sir, please no more of your tittle tattle. It's best you hold your tongue! By the way, one has to pay for their shows and they are not cheap. I believe you only want to champion for your 'orang kita' and I honestly feel that many of yours would not be at the concerts. Even singers from 'another side' of the world show more cleavages than you can imagine. These singers come from countries where they pray five times a day!

Common Sense Makes Sense

Let's talk sense. The clown who was the former Mentri Besar of Selangor is now embroiled in yet another controversy. The house that Jack bought. Sorry, let me rephrase that! It's the house that that clown bought! And a very, very expensive one at that! Let's talk sense again! Before this clown's downfall, he claimed to have secured a loan from the bank with a monthly installment of RM18,743. That was five years ago! Exactly, how much does a Mentri Besar, during his tenure, gets? Only now he's involve in business that rakes in RM50,000 a month. Five years down the road and how did this clown pay the monthly installments with only a MB's salary? Even as an MP, he would not be getting much!

I believe even with the bitter controversy about, the last thing he would do is squirm. This clown has no sense of shame or guilt! Did this clown connive with the state government to get funds secretly allocated to finance his very, very expensive house? Talks of hanky panky that was going around during his 'reign' has not abated. Should knock some sense into him! All these have only outrage the rakyat's sensibilities!

Jailhouse Rock

What a stark contrast! The Jailhouse Rock (the film the late Elvis Presley starred). Maybe the 'young and dangerous' bloggers do not know what I'm talking about! But not the 'old and fragile' bloggers. It gives me a nauseating feeling when I read about our own Jailhouse Rock in Kuala Kubu Baru!

What a shame! We cannot even look after our own backyard. Instead, we can clean other peoples backyard in a far away land! There will be more to come. More sadness! More cruelties! Why not make a blockbuster and with the money earned, we can at least make the lives of the inmates better! Any takers?

With naked men and women around, no wonder some volunteers are only too willing to keep their mouths shut! How often do we get to see naked men and women running around? Could some of the women be sexually abused? Physically taken advantage of? Only God knows.

There will be many clamouring to be volunteers. But, alas, there will be many 'restraining orders' from the Mrs. and girlfriends! To the 'orang kita' don't even think of going there because you 'll never know when the enforcement officers from the Religious Department would pounce on you.

On the serious note. What would the government do? What actions must be taken and how quickly? The inmates have sufferred in silence! The government cannot remain silent as silence is not golden!

Take A Break, Have A...

This is not the Kit Kat advertisement. I'm blogging about the afternoon breaks on Fridays where most of the office girls go on a shopping spree at Jalan Tengah, somewhere near the Kuala Lumpur Tower. There are many colourful stalls set up to entice everyone into spending money. If you're hungry, there's plenty of mouth watering foods and appetizers to whet your appetite. If that is not enough one can simply browse for trinkets and accessories. Still not satisfied one can splurge on clothings. From t-shirts to batiks. From kain songket to jeans! It's like a shopping centre without a roof. Pray it doesn't rain. So come Friday, let's congregate.

Home Alone

Everytime when you're at home and alone, you better leave your gates and doors wide open because you might never know when the enforcement officers from the Religious Department would pay you a little visit to see if you behave or misbehave yourself! Picture this scenario. You're alone at home, probably naked and your neighbour (the opposite gender), at home and alone, probably naked too! All of a sudden, they came, they saw, they arrested! But, gotmoneyberes.

Poor Norman and Memey. Got charged for khalwat when they were not even together! Those clowns from the Selangor Islamic Religious Department must have generalized the standing orders. Let's give them a standing ovation for such inconsistencies! Please do not waste the tax payers money! These clowns need to do their homework before they descend upon the innocent! The actions of these clowns are absolutely revolting! These clowns constantly received brickbats from the rakyat and they must be removed for their incompetence! These clowns must be equitable lest the rakyat resent these incursions into their private lives.

Concubines From The Middle Kingdom

Get ready the red chambers. The concubines are coming! They are not here for the 'orang kita'. The lucky ones are the Chinese. No more Indonesians. No more Filipinos. I know you guys are eagerly waiting for the concubines to arrive from The Middle Kingdom. If and when they do reach our shores, be prepare for the showdown. Do not worry so much as everyone knows in the chinese society, the head of the family has the final say. Will they be your housekeeper, housemaid or what? Sounds intriguing. By the way, will Gong Li be coming? I would be the first in line.

Hot Is All Around

The El Nino phenomenon is around the corner. Brace yourself for hotter days. This is the warning given by the Meteorological Department.

Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor got hot with her husband, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, our Prime Minister when they were in China because she was 'holed up' in the hotel.

PAS is also joining the fray. They do not want to lose out. Their hot topic now is about a unity government, whatever that means.

Nasharudin Isa, the No.2 is the hot property of PAS is the man to watch. Will he just be blowing hot air? Will he be in the hot spot or in the hot seat? The mass media will be hot on his heels.

Manek Urai voters will vote soon. Who will be their hot favourite? Which party is going to feel the heat?

USM (Universiti Semua Melayu) blunder. Wise up you non Malays. Don't fret or get hot over the blunder! Next time just apply at UKM (Universiti Kaum Malaysia) or at UPM (Universiti Penduduk Malaysia).

Who doesn't get hot? Look at Tun Mahathir. He's fuming! Malaysians would lose out. Malaysia would have only stupid people. Everyone knows English is the HOTTEST language today! Yet some clowns think otherwise. Why are these clowns so anti English? Wake up clowns!

Poor Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil. The uncalled-for discrimination issue of Sisters In Islam (SIS) is a political hot potato and she went hot and cold when she had to defend SIS against the onslaught by PAS!

By this time many of the rakyat must be angry with Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz because of his untimely fare hike report. This report follows hot on the heels of the Minister's statement. Can anyone give me this clown's hotline? Is this clown a political hothead?

What will the outcome be when the MACC haul up some prominent clowns of one company that was awarded 'the missing link'? The clowns involved would be in hot water. These clowns got hot under the collar when they were accused of corruption.

I'm feeling a bit hot myself and I would be taking a dip in the pool. After the dip, I might go for a glass of piping hot Milo and I might just continue with my hot blog....

Anymore Ones?

We have 1U, 1Malaysia and now 1MH. Malaysians are a very creative lot! There's no denying that. Believe me, there will be more to come. Better yet, get a contest going and see how many ones we can come up with! Even before a contest I have two ones in my mind already. 1Rakyat (can this be achieve is still a big question mark). But nothing is impossible. Basically every rakyat wants to earn a decent and honest living. The government must love and take care of the rakyat. The government must not be bias, must not be one sided and must not be racially inclined!

If we are family we must help one another. But what we've seen and read in the media is not as rosy as it seems. Many of our civil servants, whatever their positions are still in the state of denial. They are arrogrant and proud. Look around and you know what I mean. The baddest of the lot comes from those in uniforms. I'm sure you know who those people are! The government can do everything that needs to be done but as long as there are these clowns in our midst I want our government to stop wasting the tax payers hard earned money! 1Gotmoneyberes.

You'll Be Amazed

No, I'm not blogging of the Exora, Proton's newest sensation. I'm more into the services provided by our civil servants in the government departments. Many of us must have encountered them in some ways or another. What more if you are not from the majority race. You will receive that 'special treatment' if you know what I mean. You cannot speak the national language properly. You're not 'dressed to kill' and you come as you are. Be prepare to be fried!

Let me relate to you the encounters I had with the Immigration Department two years ago. There was a very small problem regarding the maid that I employed to look after my aged mother. The initial blunder came from the appointed doctor from Fomema. My maid was unfit according to the doctor. The reason the doctor gave me was quite unconvincing. I made an appeal to Fomema and that takes time. I had to extend my maid's stay.

I was not dressed to kill and I was given the run around. A lot of flimsy excuses were given to me to make my visit unpleasant. Three days later I went to them again but I 'jumped queue'. I went straight to a more senior officer who sat in an office. Things changed for the better. Again I was asked to the counter to settle my problem. Like I said things changed for the better. I was greeted politely and was asked to take a seat while waiting for the officer to settle my problem.
After a short while I left the Immigration Department a happy and satisfied man. Do you know why?

The simple reason is to dress smart. I put on my batek shirt, wore my black shoes and combed my hair. Addressed the officers by their names. All these had worked for me many times. My encounters at all the other goverment departments are now pleasant. You'll be amazed!

Indecisive And Stupid

Some clowns in the government are just plain stupid. In fact we have seen and read of them so often that this is the norm in our country. These clowns blabber without thinking and when they do think, their thinking would not go down well with the rakyat! Seriously, the rakyat do not need these kind of clowns. Come GE13 let us join forces and 'revolt'. Strike off these clowns! Give each of these clowns 'a parting gift' they will never forget! 'Hilang berganti, patah bertumbuh' so there is no love lost. Get rid of these clowns and we get rid of their shortcomings!

Just close our eyes for a moment and ponder. Is the government really concern about our welfare? Can they look straight into our eyes and say that? Once upon a time there was a petty hawker who had a foreigner (presumely without a work permit) working for him. Beside his stall there was a crony who also employed foreigners (presumely without work permits). The petty hawker was busted by the Immigration, the local council and the police. Why? Three simple reasons. Hiring an illegal. No business license. Disturbing the peace.

To make a long story short, the poor hawker was hauled to court and fined." Why the double standard?" he asked. The hawker was unhappy because his neighbour was not touched.

This was the judge's reply. "You ride a motorbike, he drives a BMW. You live in a flat whereas he owns a palace."

Calling All Mat Rempits

Where are the two clowns who were so adamant to change the attitude and behaviour of the mat rempits? One clown has become a deputy minister and the other clown is the Youth chief of UMNO. What have these two clowns got to say this time? "Sorry, no time for them. We've achieve what we wanted!"

Initially these mat rempits were public nuisance and as time goes by, they evolve. They are now public enemy number one! They are bolder, braver and nastier. They have no qualms robbing or hurting and even killing innocent rakyat. Young or old, male or female, noone is safe. Even the foreigners are at their mercy. What can our police do? Nothing! "Orang kita. Bangsa kita. Susah sikit!" No wonder so many ' bukan bangsa kita' hate the police so much! This will not change now or ever. Can we really be 1Malaysia? Can we change? Hey, this is not Obama! This is one rakyat's plea.

It's All Our Own Doing

Who says elections are expensive? They would not be expensive if every rakyat follow the rules. We must be really law-abiding rakyat. Every rakyat must 'follow law' If every rakyat does that I'm very sure the cost of all elections would be drastically cut down! The rules and regulations must be strictly adhered to. Do not misbehave during nomination day, during ceramahs till the election day. No bad mouthing, no cursing and no slandering. Exercise your rights on polling day and if all the above are to be strictly followed I'm sure we do not need even a single policeman around! Can the rakyat do that in the elections to come? Malaysia boleh!

Arrogrance Is A Liability

To some clowns in UMNO and those in the coalition, the Opposition and also the Independents please behave yourselves. All of you clowns were chosen through democratic process and now the rakyat want you to serve them to the best of your ability. You must not fail the rakyat. Most of you clowns had a long honeymoon last year. If you clowns do not buck up now then when come general election number 13( unlucky?) then you will really have a long honeymoon to be content with! You clowns have seen what the rakyat can do. The rakyat can make or break you. Be warned!

The Post Is Mine

'Ask and you shall be given'. Let me rephrase that. 'Don't ask, you shall be given' Whom is the UMNO Youth chief clown kidding? This clown says he's not after any ministerial post. Fat chance. Whether this clown likes it or not, he will eventually be given one. This is the tradition in UMNO. But if this clown is a real gentleman he must not accept any ministerial post offerred to him. Can this clown resist the dangling carrot? Let's wait and see.
